FED: Whitlam reignites ALP East Timor row

CANBERRA, Feb 24 AAP - Labor Party brawling over East Timor erupted again today with former
prime minister Gough Whitlam accused of being overly sensitive after he called for the sacking
of foreign affairs spokesman Laurie Brereton.

Mr Whitlam accused Mr Brereton of laziness and claimed he made Foreign Minister Alexander
Downer look good.

The attack delighted Mr Downer, but was rejected by Opposition Leader Kim Beazley as a bit
rough on his shadow minister.
