Qld: Museum keen to secure row boat

Queensland's maritime museum is keen to exhibit the boat used by British adventurer
JIM SHEKHDAR on his record-breaking trip from Peru to Australia.

Mr SHEKHDAR ended his Pacific Ocean crossing in dramatic fashion on Friday when pounding
surf off North Stradbroke Island threw him from his rowing boat.

Museum administrator JON ELCOCK says the row boat would be a tremendous attraction.

Mr SHEKHDAR, who's 54, is the first person to row unassisted across the Pacific Ocean
and has been congratulated by British Prime Minister TONY BLAIR on his achievement.
